Zen Baking Company will provide 200 tasting plates for the first 200 tables that dine at Oishii.

You’ll get to taste our exotic cake ball flavor – Green With Envy – our green tea cake ball that is sure to put you in Zen mood.

And in addition to Green With Envy, you’ll taste a special cake ball made just for Oishii AND two additional Asian inspired desserts made for this special night and our good friends at Oishii.

Oh – by the way – the dessert tasting by Zen Baking Company will be FREE!

When it rains…

…it pours.

Out round these parts…here in Texas…we pray for rain like MTV reality stars pray for publicity.

I KNOW…we pray THAT hard.

It’s been reaching over 100 degrees almost every day.  It’s been so hot that I sequester myself and the kid in doors unless I have to go to work (really it’s more like playtime for me..hey I make and inhale sample cake balls for a living).

But, lately, Zen Baking Co. has been getting showered on.

Not the kind of rain that makes the flowers grow, but the kind of rain that helps budding businesses like ours grow into the vision we have for it.  And let me tell you something…this company better get ready because it has some large britches to fill with the big dreams we have for it (man…I sound so southern!)

We’ve been blessed with orders here and there…but that’s not what I’m talking about….I know I’m crazy…normally businesses are excited about money.

But, we’re getting some great opportunities to showcase our Karma Box.

Someone asked me the other day what my ultimate goal was for Zen Baking Company and I told them I want to be one of the leaders in corporate donors to local charities in DFW.

Which is crazy right?  Since our corporation is me and the sister. Like we’re CEO and CFO.  Sometimes we talk in different accents at meetings just so it feels like there are more people in the room (not really…and it would be a complete fail since all of my accents – English, German, Asian, Jamaican…all end up sounding very much like the “Lucky Charms” leprechaun).

What’s crazier (more crazy?  sorry English teachers) is that I believe that our cake balls can be that great and can make that much of a difference.  Because are cake balls are that good.

Cake balls that mean something.  We’re going to start a revolution.  Making food stand for something.  And it’s starting with our cake balls.

…Live a little…let you heart cry out a little…that’s the story of….that’s the glory of…cake balls???”

Ok – so I took some artistic license with that last bit.  If you’re a true sap like me – you probably recollect that the little ditty up top was from the movie “Beaches.”

Son of a Beach…that movie was a tear jerker.  It’s about best friends who became sisters…that formed a new family.  Watch it people…it’s a real good cry.

Family.

If you don’t already know, this beast of a company is from the mad scientist minds of my sister and I.  We’re so different in so many ways – I’m the cool one in the family – but we always had baking in common.  So when the idea of Zen came up – we knew cake balls would be a hit – because each cake ball that is made is like the little sister that everyone loves.  They are each unique, super sweet, and you just can’t get enough of them. (Did I mention that I’m the little sister of the family?)

But we didn’t just want to make cake balls.  We wanted to make cake balls that had meaning.  We wanted each cake ball to make a difference.

And with our new website , we created a fund raising option that does just that.  It allows our cake balls to make a difference.  It allows our extended family -aka customers – to purchase cake balls for an organization of your choice.

So, my new mission is to get charities and organizations to join our family so when I make cake balls – I get to make cake balls that mean something.

And it couldn’t be easier!  All your charity or organization has to do is contact Zen Baking Company and let us know that your charity/organization wants to be a part of our fund raising program.  You sign a form giving us your first born…just kidding…the form just has a bunch of information on how the program works and allows us to link the charity/organization with our site.

We set up a special site just for your charity/organization, you send out the URL to our site (we’ll even help you with what to say!) to all your contacts, and make sure everyone you know buys Zen Cake Balls from your special site!

It’s so easy. We make a special 8 piece sampler with our top flavors, your friends/family/countrymen order the sampler, and they get Zen Cake Balls and you automatically get $5 of that purchase for your organization/charity.  So everyone you know – all over the nation – can help fund raise for you.  There’s no time limit.  We keep making cake balls for your charity/organization as long as you like…forever even.  And every month…Zen Baking Company gets to give to your charity/organization – just because people ordered our cake balls.

If at first you don’t succeed…

…well..you know how the saying goes.

When we came up the idea of Zen Baking Company – making cake balls hoping people would buy them – I’m not quite sure we realized how crazy it would make our lives!

But, it did.  Our first site looked so great but didn’t function well for us…because lo and behold…it couldn’t handle the hits and orders.

We didn’t expect that.  I prayed people would find our site, order cake balls from us, and tell people about us.  God is good….and He heard my prayers!  Because we’ve grown, wanted to add more options – like our new fund raising site, and wanted to give our customers a new user friendly place to order our Zen Cake Balls.

So, here we are.  After about 5 months of baking, parties, charities, weddings…we’re here…A new site.  Exciting news that we’ll share with everyone very shortly…
